THOMAS CONNELL.
Thomas Connell, a well-known
Oregon pioneer and capitalist, of
Portland, died at bia residence,
31)0 Yamhill Btreet, Tuesday even
ing of paralynis, wilh which ha had
been confined to bis bed for four
monlha.
Mr. Connell was born at Peoria,
III., nearly 57 years ago and came
to Oregon across the plains, with
bia parenta in 1852 His father,
William Connell, who had become
a retired capitalist died in that city
in 1891. His mother had nreceded
her husband by years. For seven
years, Thomas Connell bad retired
from aotive business.

married to Miss Emma B. Collins,
of Portland Besides his wife, he
leaves one son, K'mer T. Connell,
who ib engaged in stock raising
at Deer Island, near Portland; a
daughter, MiesEmma Jane Connell,
and two sisters, Mrs. U M. l'raeer
and Mra. 0. 0. Barlow, of Portland
Samuel Connell, president of the
Northwest Door Company, ia a
first cousin. He ia also a cousin
of the Qlencoe and Hillsboro Cou
ncils.

Wash., in November, 1905. She
says in ber complaint that ber
husband struck her, on Thanks
giving day, and at repeated times

Tbey have no children and Mrs.
Seed wants the husband to pay tbe
expenses of the suit and pungle
15,000. This will be easy for Seed,
as be haa 110 000 planted in a
Portland bank, according to the
plaintiff.
This is tbe same Mrs. Seed who
was the wife of an engineer by tbe
name of Orville Jennings. A di
vorce was granted and Jennings
then sued Seed for damages for
alienation of bis wife's ahVction
A judgment was granted io tbe
Multnomah Court, and is still on
the docket in that county. Short
!y afterward Mrs. Jennings wedded
Mr Seed, but tbe seed of love
evidently did not shoot forth a
plant of felicity, for tbe woman
now wants separation from tbe
man who broke up ber former
home.

Wm. Moore, justice for one of the
Cedar precincts, was in the city
from Tualatin, today. While here
Mr. Moore h'ed a petition in pro
bate on the estate of the late Chas.
Anderson, who died at Tualatin,
the first of the week. It was first
supposed, says Mr. Moore, that
Anderson had no property, and
that he was practically without
estate, but he has discovered that
be had over $2,000 in certificates
of deposit in Portland Banks.
