, The failure of C.'E. Loss, the
railway promoter, will in noway
effect the fortunes of the United
Railways, says the Oregon news
article. Mr. Loss Drain contracts
and his plant are now gone by the
board and his assets are now in ths
hands of a receiver, R. L. Sabin, of
Portland, who represents the credi
tors, lne United Railway is ex
peeled to go ahead and commence
pushing work. Construction is
now being done on a small seals on
Front Street, Portland.
M. L. Vincent, administrator of
the esUte of Fred L. Brown, late of
Gales Creek, was in town Monday
and called at the Argus nice. Mr
Vincent states that the published
' reports of the death of Mr. Brown
wars erroneous. He states that
Mr. Brown bad the best of care
from. his neighbors, and thai nntil
bis final sickness he had never
been in ill health. Hs made this
statement because of the publish
ing of the alls-sd fact that the old
man was destitute, and bad no
m. He ears the old eeotlemen
had money in bis pocket, ; and
money in the bank, and was not
