MISS ALLIE M. CORNELL
Mies Allie M. Cornell, of this city,
died at Porterville, Cal , on Febru
ary 14, 1907. Miss Cornell went
thereabout three months ago. in
search ol health, but gradual y
grew worse until death came. She
was a sutierer from locomotor
ataxia. Deceased was born in
Burt County, Neb., June i, 1874,
and came to Oregon with ber par
ents in 1888, and has resided at or
near Hillsboro ever since. She
leaves an aged father, L T. Cor
nell, and two brothers, C. L. Cor
nell, of. Rainier, and Dell K. Cor
nell. ol Lebanon. The funeral
tok place at the M. K. Church
Tuesday, and interment was in the
Odd Fellows' cemetery. Miss Cor
nell waB a member of the Roy;
Neighbors and' of the Relief Corps.
She was uncomplaining during her
years of illness and was of a very
cheerful disposition.

Albert M. Grubbs, who is a minis
ter of the gospel, haa retained Bag

filed a damage suit against one O.
Sikes, and bis complaint asks
tbat Mr. Sikes put up $1,000
amages, an attorney's fee, and
costs ol a former transaction where-
the said Mr. Sikes had bim ar
rested. Last Spring Sikes went
before Wirtz and swore to a com-
aint charging Grubbs, who lives
above Forest Grove, with having
aliciouely thrown down a fencs
on the "property of another." Tbe
case went before a jury in Wirtz'
court and the minister was found
guilty. Grubbs appealed it to tbe
circuit court and Judge Mc Bride
reversed it on some error ia tbe
papers. Grubbs alleges that he
was 5 hours in tbe custody ol
Constable Baldwin, aod tbat his
umiliatioo and disgrace are easily
worth tbe sum aeked for, and he
as therefore hsled Brother Sikes
