Jerlcbo for over five year,

sides that It had been a

of tbe latter would bve goue to

but for tbe club. Tbey Just loved to
alt around aa tbe barrel and boxes
and hear tbe liar lie. aud It was cal
culated tbat their purchases at tbe
Stores amounted to over $100 a week.
In addition to tbe farmers, whenever
a peddler, a lightning rod man or a
piano agent found himself within five
miles of Jericho and night or Sunday
coming ou be made for tbe village, ao
as to be present at tbe meeting of tbe

The Liars' club bad passed Its fifth
year aud was gaining ou it all the
time When there arrived in Jericho one
day a little old man who gave his
name as Abljab Goodheart He came
to look for a relative, but tbe person
had moved sway. Mr. Goodbeart
wouldu't have stayed beyond two days
If be hadn't happened to bear of tbe
club. ' His old wrinkled face lighted
up with eagerueaa, be rubbed bis bands
