Rsymond Dixon, a son of Jacob
Dixon, was drowned In the Tuala
tin river, southwest of . Forest
Grove, Tuesday. Dixon, bad been
out hunting ducks in a boat that
he had constructed. It was tin
weildy, and when in tha river,
struck a submerged snag. He" was
thrown out, but managed to cattb
hold of the lwat. - After clinging
awhile he concluded to swim, and
although he was handicapped by
Hie heavy coat and a pair of gum
boots he made good headway. Hit
struggles were witnessed by Lee
Reed, a neighhor, and Dixon was
apparently making shoreward In
good shape. Alt at once be sank
and never appeared on the suiface.
Used summoned help, but tha body
could not be found, Hugh Brady,
the Portland diver, was seut for,
and he went to beyond Cornelius
and worked alt day Christinas, put
ting in blasts.

came peacefully. A brother, Henry

in North Dakota survive him of
