He will talk the matter of a manual train ing department with the Hillsboro Board in the near future. Forest Grove has already decided to have such a department, bat it is bard to Gnd an instructor at this time. The boys, commencing with the Fifth Grade, are taught wood work and the girls are given lessons in needle work. School authorities say that these departments add a great interest to the schools and are the redemption of many pupils who are otherwise a source of much trouble and anxiety. The rains of Tuesday, yesterday and today, have been very heavy and high water will surely result. Washington County, however, oth er than making the road soft, will experience no ill results, aa the cleaning out of the Tualatin in the year of 1S95 and 1806 has stopped the backwater, giving a lower high water level in the river and its tributaries. The last real damage by high water waa in January, 1905, when the county lost $12,000 by bridges being washed out.
