Hartrampf was the eon of J. W. Hartrampf and wife. lis was born near St. Paul, Minn., Feb. 10, 1884, and oame to Oregon with his parents wren he was three years of age. No blame is attached to him, however, as it was one of those unforeeen accidents that will sometimes occur. When Herman Schnlmericb return ed from lunch be discovered that the till in tbe cash counter had been robbed. After conferring with Justice of the Peace H. T. Bagley suspicion at once rested upon Hall as Judge Bagley had seen Hall prowling around the building, up stairs, about tbat tane. Sheriff Connell arretted Hall Monday ere mng and after a period of sweating be confessed tbat he went into tbe back door and committed tbe rob bery. Hall was arraiged, his bond fixed at 1500 and in default of bail, spent tbe night in jail. 1111 went with Sr.eriff Conoell, after confessing, and showed him where he bad buried the money in his barn in North Hillsboro. Sheriff found fU 01 ia silver. Hall hid ft in hi pocket book, but tbe sheriff turned the dollar over to the family. An Argui reporter viaited Hall in the county jail Tuesday and the prisoner admitted his peculation and cried like a baby. He said: 'I don't know why did it. tt must be natural, I guess. I sever thought of the consequences or I shouldn't have done it. It is a terrible disgrace on my wife and seven children." This is said to be not the first time he haa been caught at larceny. When the reporter told him that work was plenty and there was no earthly excuse lor his theft Hall said he knew it, and tbat he had worked all tbe time, but he guessed tbe devil wss in him. He said he joined the church last winter in the hopes that he would overcome his evil tendencies. but cupidity got the best of him. Hall ranched several years before he came lo town to live. He will answer to the eat term of circuit court, which con venes ia March. J W. WHEELER DEAD J. W. Wheeler, a Civil War Vet eran, died at his borne in Forest Grove, January 15, 1906, from an attack of beari failure. Deceased waa born in Michigin, and was 68 yars of ape. Deceassd served in the Civil War for three years in the First Michigan Light Artillery. He was a memmr of J. B. Mat thews' Post, G. A. It., and had just completed a term as post com mander. Deceased was wounded at Richmond, Kentucky. The fuceral took place Wednesday under the auspices of Gales Grange. Hie wife died some time ago, and two boob survive mm, W. After the crowd had proved to everyone's satisfaction that they were the champion noise makers of Ti'la mook, they were treated to candy and nuts.
