Several months ago J. C. McDon
ald, tha life InMiranoe man, secured
a judgment for over $100 against
Hans Jurgenson, of near Sberwood,
for a premium dua on a poliey.
Roma time ago Albert Hartrampf,

court from which the judgment waa
iaaued, levied on 700 aacks of onioos
on tha Jurgenson plaoe, valued at
about 11800, and Mra. HansJur
geoson claimed tha property.
Consequently Cbaa. Scboabel, tha
Portland attorney, cama out laat
night and tied suit against tha
constable for tha sum of 11800.
The plaintiff claims that the onions
belong to Hans, although 8ophia,
the wife, claims them. She settled
with the creditor, today, however.
Chairman R. II. Greer notified
the taaobers at the publio school
this week that tha directors had
voted to have tha pupils atteodiog
school vaccinated to provide against
small pox, which is prevalent to
the north ot town. As a result tba
physician have bn using all their
spars time preforming the operation
that is suppoaed to cause immunity
from serious effects from tba malady.

attending physician found nothing

William Towniend, well known on
the plains corth of Hillsboro, snd
well known around Centerville,
where be lived for yean, met with
sn accident on the Linton road,
near Portland, Tuesday afternoon,
that cost him bis life. Townsend
waegoingbome,and metanautomo
bile, which was speeding at s rate
of forty miles per hour. He pulled
bis horses to one side, but tbe roar
ing machine scared tbe tesm,
throwing Tuwneend out, and when
picked np unconscious bis skull was
found to be fracturrd. He wsa
taken back to Portland, where Dr.
Cautborne treated him, but the un
fortunate man died early Wednes
day morning.
. raul Kilter, of Bethany, was
with Townwnd when he met with
tbe fatal sccident. Townsend bsd
been drinking some, but was not so
fsr intoxicated that it caused his
death.
Win. Townsend wss born in
North Carolina, and was about fifty
years of age. He waa a widower,
and had been in this county for
sbout 18 yaare. For severs 1 yesrs
he has made bis home with the
family of a brother, tbe late J C
Towniend.
The remains were brought out
yesterday afternoon.
The dead man was sbout 45 years
of sge. Tbe funeral takes place to
morrow, and interment will be at
Cornelius.
