THAT DEAR OLD VIOLIN
Your music, dear old violin,
Remembrance yet it thrills;
It brings old meadows back to me;
And water wheels and mills
Rich shaded vale, and sunlit hills,
And crag o'erlooking ses
All these, Ah! desr old violin 1
Yonr notes waft back to me.
'Tis years since first your dreamy spell
i-eu ugntiy on mine ear,
And filled my soul with melody
That gave my young heart cheer
Your soft base notes and treble trill-
Deep in mv heart thev wove
Bright wonder dream a with castles, and
I'air maids, and treasure trove!
The band that gave yon fond caress
At county dance and halls,
Is palsied now with age and grief
No croon from yon it calls;
Bnt still your song lives !n the heart,
And thro' the roar and din
Of Life, I'll ne'er forget your lilt.
Ah! dear old violin!
