Mini Norman was born at Tigardville, and was the daughter of Rului and Olive Norman. She -was aged 17.: For some years Mini Norman waa in the employ of the Paoiflo slates Telephone Co., of Portland, and wag at McMinnville on a visit to her aunt, Mrs. Mary K. Colby when death came. E Squires, John Henry and Alfred Davies, of Beaverton, lave filed a petition with tbe coun ty board, asking that tbe road tax collected on property in tbe village their residence be set aside and given to tbe town for the purpose of keeping up tbe streets. They si ege that up to 1901 the town bad levied a tax, bnt that after that date, from the fact that the county court levied a general road tax, so levy was made, as it would have made double tsxation. They set forth the declaration that no work has been done on tbeir streets, snd they went the sum of 9180.55, and want it badlv. A petition signed by W. Mc Quillan and others was also filed with the board this week, asking for a new bridge across tbe Tuala tin, below Newton, on the road eading to tbe section south of Newton and Reedville. WILLIAM WALLACE BOOTH Willism Wallace Booth, who died Sept 30, 1905, aa the result of a gunshot wound inflicted by Sydney Brugger, was born in Menard Coun ty, III, Nov. 24, 1845. Nov. 7, 18i5, he was married to Frances Klla Green, and later moved to Beatric, Neb. Four years ago be came to Hillsboro. A wife and six daughters survive. The daughters are: Mrs. Geo. Muon, Littleton, Colo.; Mrs. L. A. Westphal, Sacra mento, Cal., Miss Emma Booth, Beatric, Neb.; Mra. Gov Powers, East Hillsboro; Mrs. H.'W. Kafer, Condon, Ore.: Miss Nettie Booth, Hillsboro. PIONEER STEAMBOATING B. C. Olds, mention of whose death appears in another column, was well known to the old pioneers of this county. In 1858 Mr. Olds, in company with others, had a con tract to clear out the Tualatin River from the mouth up to tbe Sol. Emrick place, near Cornelius, and they were to prepare the stream for navigation. They were frozen in with their boat for a week or two between here and Cornelius, owing to a severe cold snap. The steamer Yamhill was used by Mr Olds and his associates, and Capt Kellogg, the veteran Portland steamboat man put the Onward on the route. Tbe venture, however, did not pay, and the boat was soon pulled off. Hon. W. D. Hare and Kenyon Crandall made a trip on the boat to Portland, in the early sixties. Boats were run only in winter, when the water was bigh. Geo, Krebs, of Helvetia, was in town Monday. E. J.
