' Pnrely Accidental Otto Johnson, a son of Sam John son, of Shady Brook, beyond Glen- coe, was accidentally shot Tuesday evening, about supper time, by Oliver Johnson, his brother, tbe bullet entering between the shoulder biades and lodging, behind the ear. Harry Zimmerman,' of beyond Shady Brook, bad just reached the JotiDfoa home from Hillsboro, and he and a daughter of Mr. Johnson a t . m were aooui to ran a loos race as the result of a small wager. The Zimmerman hoy placed bis coat on the fence post and laid two un loaded revolvers on the opposite post. Otto - Johnson, seed H. snapped the revolvers, and placed a cartridge in one of them. He was to give the signal for tbe.Vare to begin. ' Changing bis mind, he gave the revolver to bis brother Oliver, telling him to snap '.he gun as soon as he had made a mark for the boy and Miss Johnson to start from. ' Us was just stooping to make the mark, wLen Oliver Johnson, not knowing the revolver bad been loaded, snapped the weapon, catching Otto bent over. The fact thst thaf boy wai bending! over probably eaed his life, as the nuuet followed tne line or least resistance and ploughed under neath the skin, as above stated. It was one of these-unfortunate accidents where no one is reailv to blame. Dr. Linklater was called to attend the wound, and the patient is getting along very nicely. Dr. I. ink later conferred with an eminent surgeon in Portland, and it was decided to leave the bullet real until after the shock of the accident has parsed away.
