R. M. Kyle, of two miles north
of Cedar Mill, was in town Monday
and says that grain down his way
is turning out very nicely.

M. Jackson. Mrs. Holmes is
daughter of Mr. Jsckeon.
Lawrence C. Brown, of South
Tualatin, was in town Tuesday and
says the crops on Iowa Hill are
not as good as promised before har
vest time rolled around.
Farmers wanting decomposed
granite for chicken grit are request
ed to notify John M. Brown, at the
express office, and with sufficient
orders he will order another car
load. Mrs. Willis Cotterill, of Anthony,
Kas., arrived last week and is the
gueet of her uncles, August and
Chris. Kemptn, Glencoe, and her
oonsin, Mrs. E. B. Poole, of this
city.
Esrl Wallace, son of Frank
Wallace, of South Tualatin, return
ed the last of the week from Yaki
ma, Wash , where he has been bar
vesting, and is now under the care
of a physician, being very ill.
Mrs. Rosaline Jenkins, who
some years ago resided on First
Street, this city, and for fifteen
years a resident of Portland, ia suf
fering from a broken leg, both
bonee being broken between the
knee and ankle, several weeks ago.

writes the weather bureau as fol
lows: "Grain all cut and most of
it in the stack; potatoes and corn
showing effecta of dry weather; hops
look well and promise a good yield;
pastures dried up; pears fair, prunes
small yield.

ited with Ira Purdin and family.

exhibition was all that could be
desired, and the boys of the fire de
partment promise to do some quick
work hereafter, when handling wa

Last Saturday, at Mountaindale,
Miss Olga Hagin, of Portland, visit
ing witb Mies Montgomery, sustain
ed a serious fall from a saddle
horse, and was unconscious for
day and a half. Dr. F." A. Bailey
was called and found a severe con
cussion of the brain. Miss Hagin
was not accustomed to riding and
when the horse struck a lively gait,
iosi ner Daiance and fell, atrikine
on her head. She is improving
nicely at last reports.
Herman Huntemann, of south
west of town, is this year delivering
some splendid peaches, the product
of his orchard in the sheltered
neighborhood due south of the long
bridge, west of this city. It would
appear that others would encourage
peach raising in this vicinity. The
fruit raised this year, or, any year
for that matter, is finer than the
Dalles peaches, and they can be
left on the tree until more nearly
ripe, unlike that wanted for ihip-
ment - - '
