GO INTO THR GHANGK. Farmers should belong to their 1 cal' g ange, as this is an tducating factor, recond to none, for thf agri cultaial element. It affords a i. weans of cooperation -ndcooi- ration is the t-logan of the hour TThe big tnanufactuers nd capital- r. ista are organised and the far-me-s should organ xe. They should place th-melves in a position u 'take united action upon impor'tn me 'Sures which touch upon nation- - si life, and therein prove an intel ligent factor in representative V1 affairs. The time is raphily ap-v.-proelrim5" when ftrnvrs must either think for the.i.selv s, nd fo'rce U-.eir ideas to the front, or take a b ck set and War a prac tieal disfranchisement. When thr t uresent object lessons show that l'neB industry c,r ui-Mce art organizing for mutual benefit; lainies should not be slow in taking this question up in i s proper form, and deducing a Pa lieiit lesson. THKIIt Ort N KNEMIK8. Cardinal Gibbons, a celebrat- d Catholic, recently commented upon the poor f the cities, remarking vltOV many woiked all week for six or eight dollars, and how it seemed impossible for the heads of families to clothe -their families, le- alone giving them pr pr food, with such pitiful remuneration. The picture 'he painted, is rue in many of onr big ci iee, but it does not necesir s ily (blow that there is no remedy rThe wtirtingmeii of thi country are apocer in themselves, if y - hrt-knowttfil that they have to do is to organize, and they be ' come the masters of the situation. But, so long as th-y are divided as to the matter of organization, just so long there will be poor wage' jDaiirSD4i4h attendant suffering through insufficient food and clothing. The capitalists are keeping the laborers divided amongst themselves and il is tak ing a long time for union labor to educa e their co-worke s to the point of accepting o gauization. C"pitalism points oat the weak points of unbrn'sm, inrtead of the trot) and protective points, and the gullible swallow the false doc trine ni become ih-ir own wnr-t enemies Labor unionism U their oiily hope for a decent wage scale, and unionism w 11 not fall of its oirn w'-'uht, as predic ed by agnls tit -capitalism, but, rather, wi'l be come stronger, because of txperi eme. DUILU DP YOVH DAIRIES. Wasbiagton county has an innova tion in .Jhe dairy business in the agency of evaporated cream factor ies. These factories will, prove a big matter of profit to the farmers who have dairy stock. It gives a tetter price for milk, and a farmer can get returns once a month and Mpend upon a decent price for Ms product the year round. Dairy- vm unim tuvreaw meir nen a an , I I , iB ' ba?e a; greater product, and y. this will make transportation to vne lactory cbeaper and insure a better price for milk Whe e teams haul the milk from the farmer's d xir it cost as much to go whero a man has but a gallon or two as though he has several hundred pounds. There is, again, no busi ness in the world that will build up the fertility of the soil like dairying. Several of our people have invested thousands of dollars in the evaporated cream factories here and at Forest Grove, and when a farmer helpi to keep these institutions alive, he is helping bimself. Build up your dairies and you will, make better returns for your effort.
