EXPERTS' REPORT Hillaboro, Ore., Sept. 13, 1902. To the Honorable County Court of Washington County, Oregon: Gentlemen: We have examined the books and accounts of your officers, covering the transactions of their offices occurring between July 8, 1902, and July 7, 1902, and hie herewith statements showing our findings. With the exception of the records of the recorder of conveyances, we have found the records generally well kept. Errora, alwaya more or less unavoidable, have been made, hut the ame are now corrected. The county funds, except aa noted in our statements, have been prop erly accounted for. Exception is taken to the bur densome methoda of accounting in volving uselesa clerical labor, and under vour instructions we have arranged for a more systematic and accurate handling of the accounts. which, when in use, will lessen la bor and insure accuracy. Warrants redeemed by the treas urer are not cancelled on the face as prescribed by the statute, and we suggest that thia detect be al once corrected. Running back for several years appear serious uinerencea in war rant accounts. While there may not exist in them any monetary loss to the county, until carefully examined there can be no assur ance as to their nature, and we ad vise that they be rectified. We note that on your tax rolls taxes marked ''Sold to the Coun ty," the certificates of which have not been completed by the sheriff making the sale, and consequently no record being listed of them on the delinquent tax ledger of the county clerk.
