The city council will soon, o it is
said, engage in the pleasant dis
cussion as to whether or not an or
dinance shall be passed prohibiting
cows to run at large. Tbe measure
is beintr drafted and will, in all
likelihood, be brought before the
next session of tbe city fathers.
There is a strong sentiment among
many for prohibitive measure?,
while on tbe other hand the owner
of the cow, collectively, without
many break, i for letting the ani
mal run at large. Hillsboro cow
are great pets, anyway, and can't
do much harm, they are that gen
tle. One family cow walked into
Milnt's warehouse last Saturday
night, before closing time, took
down her back bair, pot on her
night gown and proceeded to camp
in the office until Sunday morning,
when she was discovered and turn
ed out to grass. "Boss'' didn't want
any breakfast, but made a bee-line
ror me luaiaiin river io jenunun
of water to help foment what grain
she might have eaten, this is
only a sample of bow domestic a
cow can become under favorable
circumstances. If the Hillsboro
cow keps on a few more year, she
will get through the eighth grade
and nothing short of tbe State Ag
ricultural College will satisfy her
educational instincts.
