There is considerable talk around
lown amongst the fun-livina of
having, at an early date, a fiddlers'
contest in the Hillstsiro Upera
House. All county fiddlers and
violinists are lo be admitted, hut
none other, if the convention is a
go. There are a large numlier of
violinists in Washington county
and the occasion could be made om
of genuine fun and interest. If it
is decided to hold such a meeting
prizes will be given as follows, the
affair to win I up with a grand ball
in the evening, the contest to be in
the daytime and up to nine in the
evening: Prize to the oldest fid
dle; to the youngest fiddler; to the
most handsome fiddler, and to the
ugliest fiddler; also to the fiddler
giving the lmst dance music, this
last to be decided by the vote of
dancers of twostens and waltzes.
The first name prizes would be
awarded by competent judges.
Wouldn't it, without a josh, lie the
finest and greatest idea on earth?
We can have some old timers here
that would fill the welkin with
melody that would make a mock

the prize take the Walker boys
for example. By all means let us
have that fiddlers' contest.
