is a law that lew people are a wire
of, and it is a very wise one, n fast
driving does more to impair a
structure than the ravages of the
elements. As farmers build the

sist driving over a bridge at a swift
trot? Did you ever feel the oppos
ite when driving over what you
deemed a safe bridge?

To The Editor of the Hillsboro Argus:
It was repotted in last week's Argus
that the Hillsboro Reed and Cornet Band
is about to disbaud. The band wishes to
sav that this is conditionally correct; and
have reasons for which each member of
the band feels justified in doing so. It
is not from lack of patriotism on part of
the band towards the town, as might be
interred from last week's Argus, but
from a Hick of financial support.
The Hillsboro band has existed for
about eight ; ears past, and during all
these years its faithful members have
continued to meet tsgularly two even
hit's each week and have worked against
all reverses to maintain organization,
such as learning new members to rill va
cated places, which has existed continu
ally, and where they could not be filled,
have stil) existed under such extreme
disadvantage: in fact the Hillsboro
band has not had a complete instrumen
tation for the past two or three years,
and band men alone can only under
stand the drawback of such a condition,
and feel at every chord the sting and
disappointment ot lack ot Harmony as
strains are oeing pro.iuceu.
