The Junior league girls have now
begun their work for th coming
year, and a number of tlrem -give
up several days during the week
for the clinio and social service,
work. Each year- they ; give emu
brilliant social affair, to ralsemoney
for their wilfare ; work,' but as' yet
there are no definite, plans for this
year, though there are some very
interesting rumors.
Several weddings are planned for
this month. One of the largest Is
the double wedding of the sisters.
Miss Katherlne Seller, who . will
marry Lawrence' Dickson .of San
Francisco, and Miss - Jane . Seller,
who will wed Allen E. Meier. This
wedding will take place on October
II. at the Temple Beth Israel. The
attendants will be Miss Jeanette
Meier and Miss Suzanne Seller, maids
of honor, and Miss Flora Marx of San
Francisco. Miss Edith Ottenheimer,
Miss Judith Lipltt and Miss Ruth
Lowengart as Bridesmaids. Little
Sally Ann Lowengart will be flower'
girl and Sanford Lowengart Jr.-wUl
act as rlngbearer. A large recep
tion Will follow at the Multnomah
hotel.
The marriage of Miss Helen Gregg
and John Ross Dickson Jr. will take
place on the morning of Wednesday,
October 11, in Trinity chapeL This
will be a small affair, with only
a few relatives and friends present.
Wednesday evening, October 11,
Miss Helen Haller has chosen for
her marriage to Harvey Nicol Black.
This will take place at the West
minster Freabyterlan church. A
large reception will be given fol
lowing the ceremony at the Haller
residence.

Portland society Is Interested in
the wedding of Miss Edith Fred
ericks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Benjamin Fredericks, and Durham
Jones, which will be solemnized in
Boston- Saturday, October 7. Mr.
Jones is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
William Estebrook Jones and the
grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs.
R. L. Durham. " Mrs. Jones Is a for
mer Portlander, and her brother,
Gilbert H. Durham, with Mrs. -Durham,
will attend the wedding. Mr.

Charming In its simplicity was
the wedding of Miss Mildred Lau
derdale and Floyd Maxwell, last
Monday afternoon at the home of
the bride's parents. Dr. and Mrs.
C. F. Lauderdale, In Laurelhurst.
In. the presence of a few
friends and relatives. Rev. E.' H.
Pence .read the service, and .T. C.
Allen Jr. ef Seattle was the best
man. The bride, who was given In
marriage by her father, wore a
gown of dark blue georgette crepe,
elaborated with beads, and a large
picture hat. She wore a corsage of
Ophelia roses and lilies of the
valley.
Miss Katherine Lauderdale, sister
of the bride, was the maid of honor,
and wore tan canton crepe, adorned
with beads, and a brown hat. Her
-bouquet was of Columbia rosea. .
The wedding march was" played
by Mr. F. Reed McBride, sister of
the bride, and preceding the cere
mony Miss Nina Dressell sang "Be
cause" and "I Love You Truly." A
reception followed the ceremony.
Receiving with the bridal party was
Mrs. C. F. Lauderdale. Her costume
was of brown lace trimmed in tan
velvet. Presiding in the dining room
were Mrs. William Cavanaugh and
lira H. E. Lounsbury- They were,
assisted by the Misses Lucille,
McClung, Carnel Sheasgreen, Agnes
Kennedy, Francea Lounsbury and
Clara Wheelhouse.
Mrs. Maxwell is a graduate of
Washington high school and the
University of Oregon, and Is a mem
ber of the Chl Omega sorority. Mr.
Maxwell is the son of Mr. and Mr
W. A. Maxwell of. Union, Or. He is
a graduate of the University of Ore
gon, where be was editor of the
Oregon Dally Emerald, and is" presi
dent of the Intercollegiate Press
association. He la a member of the
Sigma Chi, Sigma Delta Chi and the
Friar club, a senior honorary
society. ' '
After a two weeks' trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Maxwell will reside In Port
land at 1ES East Fifteenth street.
