beach resort. Seaside, Is drawing
visitors like a magnet this season.
This Is purposely put in a double
sense for the reason that fully half
of the sojourners here during the
past three months have been from
outside states. Xearly every state in
the Union is represented on the
daily list of hotel registrations and
the crowds are cosmopolitan. Many
people from the state in the in
terior, some of them from as far
away as the middle west, have pre

GEARHART READY FOR GOLF
Annual Tournament Will Attract
Record Throng of Players.
GEARHART, Or., Aug. 12. (Spe
cial. ) Gearhart is preparing for
the record crowd of the season next
week for the annual golf tourna
ment. Assured of a splendid entry
list, with a large gallery, the en
tiro resources of the resort will be
turned to caring for the influx.
Though the tournament over the
Gearhart course,' recognized as one
of the sportiest on the coast, will
not begin until Wednesday, al
ready a number of players who will
or have entered are on hand to
familiarize themselves with the
course.
While many of those who will
play or follow the golfers will
tay at other resorts near by and
motor over daily, the home owners
of Gearhart will be taxed to the
utmost to care for their own guests.
Nearly every cottage and elaborate
home on the beach will entertain its
party for this event. Many of
these parties have been made up
weeks, even months, in advance, but
the house parties will not be the
