PRESIDENT HARDING recently
received Mr. and Mrs. N. C.
Dalton of Richmond, Va., aged
78 and 80 years. They were married
in Richmond daring the Confederate
reunion and were visiting in the na
tional capital. The president invited
them to call.
Dorothy McClatchie, an 18-year-old
schoolgirl of St. Petersburg, Fla., was
recently bitten by a giant barracuda,
known to Florida fishermen as "the.,
tiger of the sea.' She was pulled un
der by the monster, but came to the
surface once and cried for help", but
died in a short time.
During his recent stay in India the
prince of Wales wore the natty uni
form of a colonel of six Indian regi
ments. ;

Warren A. Hogel, who recently won
a wager of $10,000 by walking from
San Francisco to New York on one
foot, stopped off in Washington,
D. C., and showed peoplehow to make
a real hurdle.

The newest type of Wall-street mes
senger uniform-protector has made
its appearance in New York, designed
to keep off the robbers who have been
taking toll dor a lont time. The can
and jacket are trimmed with red to
make the messenger conspicuous. A
steel safety box weighing five pounds
is chained to him and in this are kept
the money or valuables he carries.
Many children have taken part in
getting affairs in readiness for the
pilgrimage play, "Life of Christ,"
which begins in Los Angeles tomorrow.
LncienTrost, one of the disciples, like
the other characters in the play, has
been bending muscle and skill in
preparation. The scenes will be
staged in an open-air amphitheater
Secretary of War Weeks recently
reviewed the cadets of Virginia Mili
tary institute at Lexington, Va., and
expressed satisfaction at the increas
ing number of military schools
throughout the country.
