Mrs. Raymond McCarthy who has fceen the guest of her slater, Miss Wayme Helen Flynn at the Portland hotel, left on Wednesday for Her home In Pueblo, Colo. Mrs. McCarthy came to Portland to see her father, F. H. Flynn, who was seriously 111, hut Mr. Flynn recovered sufficiently for her to be able to enjoy her visit and to be entertained at several so cial gatherings. Elrod was hostess Wednesday at a bridge luncheon, at which covers were laid for 12. see Mrs. George Kirkham Smith, who was Lisa Wood, Is expected to arrive from the east this week to visit hel mother, Mrs. C. E. 8 Wood. Mrs. Smith's children are accompanying her on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Macleay are visiting in Burllngame. Cal.. the quests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph D. Grant. Mr. Macleay is Mrs. Grant's brother. The many friends of Mrs. Henry Cabell are glad to know that she ia recovering iteadily after her recent Illness. e One of the interesting announce ments of the season Is that of the engagement of Miss Lenore Blaeslng and Maurice Robert Mann, news of which was told yesterday at a tea riven by Mrs. H. J. Bleaslng and her daughter at 415 East Twenty-fourth street south. The bride-elect Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Blaeslng. She is a popular member of her set, a Gamma Phi Beta soror ity girl, a graduate of the University of Oregon and she attended art school, where she did some meritorious work Mr. Mann is the son of Commissioner ond Mrs. John M. Mann. He attended the University of Oregon and Is a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He is proprietor of the Ivy Press. At yesterday's tea Mhss Blaeslng received in a handsome gown of white lace made over flesh colored chiffon and carried an old-fashioned bouQuet. Mrs. BlAeslng was gowned in cream lace over cream colored chiffon and satin and carried Ophrlla roses. Mrs Mann, who received with the host esses, wag gowned in blue shot taf feta and wore a corsage of violets and pink roses. The rooms were dec orated with chrysanthemums and palms. Miss Genevieve Smith played harp selections throughout the after noon. Mrs. Blaeslng's friends called between X and 5 o'clock and her daughter's girl friends called between 4 and 5 o'clock. Presiding at the table for the first hour were Mrs. C. B. Runyon and Mrs. W. J. Hof mann. Mrs. Walter Jacohson, Mrs. Orvllle Richards, Mrs. Frank McCril lis and Mrs. J. C. Boyer assisted. The table was beautifully appointed and artistically centered with lavender and pink blossoms. Nancy Lou Cullers met the guests at the door and gave them the dainty cards that told of the betrothal of the charming young hostess and Mr. Mann. During the latter hour of the tea Mrs. Eric V. Captain Flegel was recently detailed by the war department to the academy and the reception, which will be at Daniels hall, 17 North Twenty-fourth street, will serve to welcome formally the captain and his wife.
