CLEVELAND, O.. Oct. 15. Expan
sion of the Peerless business is pre
dicted by automobile men throughout
the country, as a result of the trans
action last week whereby Richard H.
Collins assumed the active manage
ment of the Peerless Motor Car com
pany. Mr. Collins recently resigned
as active vice-president and director
of the General Motors corporation
and president of the Cadillac Motor
Car company.
In financing the purchase of a sub
stantial block of Peerless stock, Mr.
Collins acted solely for himself. No
other motor car manufacturer or
(roup of manufacturers participated
in the transaction in any way. At a
meeting; of the directors of the Peer
less Truck & Motor corporation, Mr.
Collins was elected president and
teneral manager of the company.
The announcement came as the re
sult of negotiations which have been
under way for several months and
conclusively, sets at rest reports here
tofore current that Mr. Collins would
only become a stockholder without
assuming active management. That
Mr. Collins plans to make his home in
Cleveland and to assume active con
trol of the company immediately In
dicates thut.be expects to be fully in
tne saddle in preparation for the 1922
season.
Peerless Long Admired.
Mr. Collins has long admired the
Peerless principles of engineering,
intimate study of Peerless design and
construction has convinced him that
the line thoroughly embodies the
quality Ideals which have bean his
inspiration during his entire career.
With characteristic promptness Mr.
Collins already has formulated def
inite plans for the expansion of the
I eerless business. Details of these
plans will be announced from time to
time.
Mr. Collins has said that he would
give his entire time and attention to
the big Peerless plant in Cleveland
and that the company would continue
to manufacture one of the worlu'a
finest eight-cylinder motor cars.
"I am a firm believer in the prin
ciple," he said, "that the director or
general manager of a big business
like the Peerless company is only a
trustee who must, at all times, be
mindful of the Interests of the fou"
groups that make for the success of
any enterprise the stockholders,
because they furnish the capital to
carry on the business: the men who
make the product, because they givt
it its intrinsic value; the- men who
ell It because the success of tho
manufacturer depends on the success
of the merchants who put the product
in the hands of the public: and the
....... u, ,i, ureause, arier ail, a
large body of satisfied owners is the
greatest asset that any business can
possess and this satisfaction results
aolely from the policy of giving the
customer a full dollar's worth of
value."
Mr. Collins Versatile.
Mr. Collins Is considered one of the
most versatile men in ih m.fA- -
Industry. While much of his effort
has been alonK merchandising line,
he has a knowledge of manufactur
ing second only to his knowledge of
selling cars. He went to the utmost
pains to gain his intimate knowledge
of manufacturing, because he has al
ways held that only by knowing what
was going on In the factory could he
most intelligently interpret his prod
uct to the buyers outside.
Mr. Collins' accomplishments with
Cadillac are still fresh In the memo- j
nes oi men wno are conversant with
the outstanding developments In the
automobile Industry. As director of
the policies of the Cadillac Motor Car
company ne doubled the company's
r revenue, opened a branch
nouee in cmcago. whose business
panded so quickly that within less
man a year it wns necessary to dou
ble the floor space of the building:
anu iinisnea In Detroit a
new sales and service building de
scribed as the most beautiful
complete structure of Its kind in the
world, and designed and erected a
new Cadillac factory that is said fo
oe me world s most modern automo
bile plant.
Mr. Collins began his automobile
career back In the early davs of the
Industry as general manager of the
Kansas City branch of the Bulck Mo
tor company. He directed Buirk dis
tribution in this Important territory
with such pronounced success that
three end one-half years later he was
called to Flint. Mich., to sesume the
larger responsibilities of general
sales manager of the Bulck Motor
company.
He was Inter appointed assistant to
tns president of the General Motors
corporation, maintaining office in
New York and Detroit for the man
agement of the large affairs of the
corporation before becoming presi
dent and general manager of the
Cadillac Motor Car company.
Men who knew him weli cay that
K. H. Collins Is the easiest man in
the country to work with. His en
thusiasm for his work and for the
good results accomplished by his sub
ordinates Is so Intensely sincere and
so contagious that his men strive
constantly for greater achievements,
both for the pleasure of achieving
and for the pleaure. as one of them
expressed it recently, "of hearing

It's a Jordan.
Built and priced to lead the field of
fine quality light cars, it is distin

A thrilling dynamic bundle of fasci

best automobile ever built in America
to sell around $2000. That1 s value.
You have never ridden in a motor

No man will be able to judge it's

to classify it as

Women Who Know
Women who know how ancient ap
pears the gown of days gone by can ex
plain the charm of Jordan appearance.
Jordan has always dared to lead in
body styles. It was Jordan who made
the old-fashioned beveled edge body
look as antique as grandmother's hoop
skirt That's style.
In this new fashion car all instru

from rain. A concentrated beauty
spot taken in at a glance.
A Little Touch of Charm
Women who first learned to drive
old-fashioned heavy cars quickly sense
that subtle some
thing the feel
1 of the wheel of
a Jordan car.
Taat's ease in
handling.
Drive all day
and you'll re
turn happy and
exhilarated
mentally and physically unconscious
of the city speed laws enthralled by
many easy miles per hour on country
roads. That's comforf.
Rare comfort is yours, however warm
the day. The new cowl ventilator
keeps the fore compartment cool. Op
erated with a twist of the wrist from
the driver's seat.
The ventilator adds a little touch of
charm a little bit of something that
every good car eventually must have.
Imagine 'yourself approaching this
trim, graceful car low hung, with
lines inspiring speed.
The colors are as interesting as all
Jordan ideas. You have your choice of
the most enduring bright finish or the
new opaque velvet finish. If you
choose the latter, drive your car a
month turn on the hose and it's clean.
No polishing
no scratches will
show.
Women as
usual are de
manding it first,
because it has a
custom appear
ance and because
it is dust-proof.
Drive 'the Car Yourself .
Step into the Jordan. You know
you step you never climb into a
Jordan. Experience only, not words,
will reveal the feeling when you take
the wheel. You are more a part of
this car than any you ever sat in. It
has a solid, sturdy feeling. You know
that the car is all one piece. It stays put.
Balanced better than any car built,
this nimble Jordan hugs the road, mov-

A new lubricating system insures the

A new type of

It is a rustless car. Every nickel

There's a new swanky Jordan barrel

of nickel on non-rusting brass.
No more unloading passengers to
'find a dirty tool roll, usually empty.
Tools in padded locked compartment

Jordan Has The Courage
Success Vision and the lucky
Jordan star made possible this timely
announcement.
Success enabled Jordan to avoid tho
deadly struggle to cut quality to quickly
attain a lower price. It gave him cour
age to build a vastly better car instead.
Old Jordan owners knew that Jordan
would do just that thing.
Vision enabled Jordan to know that
Service defines Value and motor cars
will henceforth compete not alone in
price but in service.
So Jordan has built a vastly better
car. An enduring car. Cut his own
profits. Staked his all on the positive
belief that 10,000 men will buy this
car when they realize that it will run
200,000 miles with reasonable care and
last ten years, if the owner treats it
fairly. That's endurance.
