MOST of the rugs in this important May sale were purchased by our buyer
at the large New York rug sales in April. Representatives of stores in all
parts of the country were on hand eager to secure this fine merchandise.
Things started slowly buyers were disposed to wait in the hope of influencing
lower prices. The , Meier & Frank representative reasoned otherwise and
bought at the very outset of the sale, at much less, than the prevailing market
prices.
THE EVENT vindicated his judgment a reaction set in the earlier hesi
tancy gave way to the keenest competition prices went up and have
stayed there. That is why we are in a position to offer these new; first
quality Axminster, Brussels and Velvet rugs at prices that represent a sav
ing of fifteen to thirty per cent on the new low basis. Various desirable
qualities are in the sale in all standard sizes. The rugs will be arranged for easy
choosing according to lots. -
