July 17. As a result of a sensational batting drive, Tris Speaker, manager of the Cleveland li.dians, Joday threatens to oust George Sisler, star first baseman with fet. Louis. Jrom the batting leadership in the American league. Speaker whaled his way from fourth plc-e to second within a weeK, driv ing cut 18 hits in eight games and bcofcting his average from .385 to .4i'3. Sisler's average is .404. Joe Jackfeon, the Chicago slugger, is trail tnjr Speaker with an average of .318, while "Babe" Kuth, the home-run king, dropped from second to fourth pli.ee with a mark of .382. Kuth was Riming .386 a week ago. . .Kuth, in addition to his remark able home-run drive, is leading the league in scoring, having crossed the plate 82 times. Trout Are Tourists. OREGON CITY, Or., July 17. (Spe cial.) Harold Ledman of Clackamas left Friday evening for North Bend with ten cans of brook trout to be turned loose in the rivers of that section.
