her grandmother, Mrs. V. P. LaRoche.

Mr. and Mrs. K. Ivar Larson en
tertained at cards Tuesday evening
in their new home, 344 Montgom
ery street, in honor of Mr. Larson's
brothers. Carl 'and Hugo Larson, re
cently returned from the American
expeditionary forces in France and
Germany. Mrs. Hepburn and Mise
Hedberg of St. Paul carried off the
honors.
Mrs. D. Saperstein, Mrs. J. ' Lewis
and Miss Mollie Mozorosky enter
tained with a shower last Saturday
evening for Miss Eva Goldstone,
who;e engagement to Fv Goldstein
was recently announced. About 80
relatives and friends of the bride
elect were present, making the
evening a most enjoyable one. The
guest of honor was the recipient of-
many beautiful gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Ritchie of 958
East Glisan street celebrated their
luth wedding anniversary on May
day with n evening party. For this
occasion the house was decorated
with apple blossoms and other spring
flowers. Mrs. f B. Schoenborn of
Oregon City and Mrs. Ira J. Kimmons
of this city sang. Those presiding in
the dining room were Mrs. Schoen

One of the attractive children's af-
fairs of the year was given Friday
afternon at the Laurelhurst kinder
garten, 781 Belmont etreet, by Mrs.
Elizabeth Bird and daughter, Marie
Bird. The school walls were banked
with greens and flowers to make a
forest setting for the little play of
"Red Riding Hood." The children
were costumed to Illustrate the dif
ferent merry rhyme characters, the
leading roles being taken by Alice
Kelly as the fairy of the woods.

Goodsell as the woodcutter. The
various costumes were Nancy Matt
son as Bo Peep, Jack Parker as Lit

Sine as Miss Muffet. Joe Howard ae
King Cole, Valerie Vernon as Mis
tress Mary, Harry Hodes as Tommy
Tucker. Dorothy Rinehart as Queen
of Hearts, Philip Hodes as Tom the
Piper's Son, Jessie Wolff ae Mary
and her Lamb. Willis Buck as Georgy
Porgy, Fay Palag aa the Woman
Who Lived in a Shoe, Marion Jean
Paly and George Buck as her chll
dren. Albert Zimp as Jack be Kimble,
Billy Zimp as Peter, and Helen Bird
as grandmother.
The features of the programm
were several dances by -little Alice
Kelly, and the play was concluded by
a Maypole dance.
