Autumn, Autumn, the W Newness!
Authoritative Fashion Interpretations
for Autumn
Jenny of Paris accents the straight line- her
idea is to make wearable clothes. Doucet ex
ploits the crinoline, uses it even for suits.
Beer suits are like those of 1915, with skirts
which have godets and wide flares. Chervit
suits are on straight lines and many have
redingotes reaching to the hems of the skirts.
1919-20 promises to be the most interesting
chapter of fashion history in many years.
Straight from the center of the best fashion inter- -pretations
of Paris and America are nearly
2500 Autumn Coats, $25.00 to $450
1000 Autumn Suits, $22.00 to $350
1500 Autumn Dresses, $19.50 to $200
in the MEIER & FRANK Fashion Salons.
Hundreds of different styles. Each woman can
choose what mode she finds best suited to her figure
and personality and she still will be in line with the
varying expressions of. Paris.

Portrait Gowns of Velvet
They remind one of the stately
clothes worn by the royal ladies whom
Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Rey
nolds' painted. Many are of exquisite
panne velvet with beautiful collars of
lace. Some are simple straight-line
frocks of velveteen with which can be
worn one's own treasured laces.
Duvetyn Frocks
. have touches of fur or are very stately
and plain, the beauty of this most lux
urious fabric sufficient in . itself to
make them lovely.
Midnight Blue
Tricotine Frocks
have troubadour sleeves with under
sleeves of fine net and lace or are
strictly tailored. Some have the new
square embroidery e a r r e . Tuxedo
dresses are of satin. Checked velour
frocks are exceedingly smart.
Yosemite Cloth, Peachbloom,
Tinseltone and Duvetyn Coats
Yosemite cloth is somewhat like plain colored
tweed. Peachbloom has a hard finish most like
the fuzzy skin of a peach. Tinseltone is a vari
ation of silvertone. Duvetyn feels like velvet and
is infinitely softer than any other woolen.
Coats that are warm without weight. Hun
dreds of them, with and without furs. Majority
with wonderful collars that protect even to the
tips of one's ears.
Velveteen Suits
Have Just Arrived
Can anything more chic be imagined than dark
blue velveteen with a chinchilla-like opossum
collar? Although some women prefer collars of
dark brown marmot. And there are suits without
furs so that they can be used with one's own fur
stock or long scarf.
These velveteen suits are to be had in brown,
plum, navy and black.

Hats With Feathers
Jade Blondine Purple Coque Capucine Hackle
Strange are the arts of milliners, who create out of everything and anything hats
of beauty for all types of faces.
Stranger still is the fact that day after day one can go into a millinery salon
nearly four thousand miles from New York and find something bewitchingly new
and becoming.
That this can be true is due to MEIER & FRANK'S large beautifully daylight
millinery workrooms with its clever designers as well as to the hundreds of New
York hats arriving constantly.
A dark purple turban has a top of coque in
which the spines of the feathers form a ribbed
crown something like a Japanese parasol; the
sides are banded with purple breast feathers, $18.
As large a hat as they are showing in Paris is
of black panne velvet with little ostrich tips
placed below and above the flaring crown. . $35.
An eighteenth century hat with bandeau and
bow at the back is of brown velvet and has the
crown almost completely covered with a blazing
mass of capucine hackle. $28.50.
Ostrich feather hats are to pe had in every shape and guise imaginable and
other hats have wings and birds. .
Jade blondine doesn't it sound like a fairy
story with a princess and a white horse ? This
jade blondine is a delicately fringed, slender,
long feather arranged in a panache on a tricorne
of dark blue hatter's plush. Each little blondine
feather is placed at a different angle. Priced
$22.50.

coque feathers with a bit of velvet embroidered in
