The art department of the fair will

from an extended eastern trip on which

the speakers scheduled for the Tuesday
luncheon of the Woman's Ad club at
the Bensou hotel. The luncheon will
commence promptly at 13 o'clock in
stead of the usual time at 12:15. The
change has been made to accomodate
Mr. Klgman. who has postponed a re
hersal oMthe Alcazar Musical Comedy
company in order to be present at the
meeting and make a short address. Mr.
Berg will talk on the advantages which
the Woman's Ad club would gain
should it affiliate with the national as
sociation of ad clubs. A large attend
ance of the members is desired.
Company B auxiliary has called a
special meeting for Tuesday from l.to
2 o'clock at room 201 courthouse. Im
portant business will be taken up and
all members are asked to be present.
The domestic value of exhibits will
be emphasised with a fine display at
the combined Multnomah county fair
informal tea which was served on the
lawn. Music and conversation over the
tea cups passed the time pleasantly.
Thursday at the home of Mrs. Diana
Snyder. Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Kenneth
Grimm were delightful hostesses at a
dancing tea where no fancy work was
allowed. The guests at both teas were
entertained by the instrumental and
vocal selections of Mrs. Vandeleur. who
has passed her three-score and tenth
milestone. Mrs. Frank Miller and Mrs.
Diana Snyder also gave selections.
Mrs. Ernest Piper entertained Satur
day at cards at her country home.
Mrs. Saddler, the Aurora chairman, is
greatly pleased with the interest shown
and has a list of hostesses that will
carry the work into October.
Marguerite camp Coterie club met at
the home of Mrs. Katherine Fairfax.

Rehearsals are being held daily for
the big pageant to be presented in

the War Camp Community Service In

Miss WUberta Babbidge la coaching a
ballet of eight toe dancers. Leah Schaa,
Bessie Bromberg, Mildred Barnes,
Gladys Goldstaub, Tiny Schulley, May
Reeves and Lillian Eisenblies. Miss
Babbidge will also present May Reeves
in a Chinese toe dance and Dora AV ash-
burn in a Spanish dance. Leah Schas
and Miss Babbidge will appear in a toe
minuet and a Japanese group dance.
Miss Emily Williams is another little
toe dancer. The dancing programme of
the pageant is under the direction of
Miss Adele M. Waper, in charge of
dancing for the War Camp Community
Service.

The "flying squadron" of local
speakers, recently organized for the W.
C T. U. Jubilee campaign, are planning
to visit each union in a body beginning
the latter part of August and will con
tinue into September until the work is
finished. These will be special meet
ings and a prize of $5 for the campaign
fund is offered to the union making the
best record at the meeting. The fol
lowing points will be considered: Larg
est attendance, new members gained,
active and honorary, and most money
raised in cash and pledges. It is ex
pected that thes meetings will com
plete the jubilee campaign before the
state convention.
Plans have been made for the an
nual picnic of the Multnomah county
W. C. T. U., which will be held in Lau-.
relhurst park Thursday. From 11 A. M.
until noon there- will be a local union
programme, each union in the county
being asked to contribute some part.

The members and friends of the
Trav-il-lieres club spent a delightful
and enjoyable time at a picnic in Co
lumbia paikj Tuesday. A short busi
ness session was held and the after
noon was' spent in games of various
kinds. Each mother brought her
daughter and the girls were organized
into a club for young women, to be
known as the "Trav-il-lettes," with
Mrs. Forest Jiarbaugh as president and
Miss Merle Addis as secretary and
treasurer. .Their club will meet the
second Wednesday of each month, the
first meeting to be held at the home
of Mrs. E. C. Clement, No. 43 East
Sixth street.

Mrs. Alexander Thompson left Tues
day for Medford to speak at the an
nual picnic of the Dixie society of
Jackson county. The picnic was held
at Lithla park at Ashland. The sub
ject of Mrs. Thompson's address was
"The South in the Building of the Na
tion." Miss Faye Stelnmets and Clive Saiz,
delegates to the International Christian
Endeavor convention, which has ust
closed in Buffalo, N. T., returned yes
terday to Portland. Miss Steinmetz is
the newly elected state president of the
union. Mr. Sais. who is state social
service superintendent, was the bearer
of the official greetings of Portland
from Mayor Baker to the members of
the international eonventlon. Both Miss
Steinmetz and Mr. Saiz will attend the
Toung People'a conference in Forest
Grove today, where a full report of
the Buffalo convention will be given.
The report will be read to the Portland
Christian iJnaeavor societies at a mass
meeting to be held soon. The date will
be announced later.
The American War Mothers will meet
Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock in room

tion. She spoke of the initiation of the

Government surveyors are mapping a
new road from the mainland at Bay-
ocean to Cape Mears lighthouse.
On Thursday evening Hotel Bay-
ocean was the scene of a delightful
dinner dance. The dining room was
resplendent with good cheer and the
guests hope to return on next Thurs
day.
