The total 191"? wheat crop for Oregon is
estimated at 15.228,000 bushels. Receipts
from farms, as tabulated by the Grain cor
poration, indicate that S3 per cent of the
total estimated crop had been delivered to
mills and warehouses by February 7. 1919.
The Grain corporation reports also show
that about two-thirds of the wheat deliv
ered to mills and warehouses was still in
the state on March 1, 1919. Only a very
email part of the grain in country ware
houses is etill owned by the producers, how
ever. A rather surprising feature of the situa
tion is the small movement of oats and. bar
ley. The records Indicate that only a small
portion of the total crop was delivered to
mills and warehouses, and of the amount
so delivered nearly 90 per cent of the oats
and 89 per cent of the barley remained in
storage or as mill supplies on February 2S,
1919.
A report issued yesterday by F. L. Kent,
field agent at Portland of the bureau of
crop estimates, shows the percentage of the
1918 Oregon crop remaining on farms March

Nearly All Classes of Stocks Share
In Feverish Advance; Trade
Big for Short Session.
NEW YORK. March 8. The brief ses
sion of the stock market today was char
acterized by extraordinary activity and
further bullish enthusiasm. which lifted
many issues to top levels of the year, with
here and there some actual new high rec
ords. Among the Influences which gave, fresh
stimulus to the advance was the report that
the administration had ordered another
postponement in the pending anti-trust lit
igation. Indications that the ra4roads would
soon be provided with funds was another
hopeful factor.
I'nited States Steel contributed almost one
fifth to the day's business at an extreme
advance of 1 "4 points to 97. but nfriliated
stocks, particularly Midvule, Bethlehem.
Crucible and Lackawanna i?teels and Bald
win Locomotive, gained to to 5 points.
Marine preferred yielded part of Its 3-poInt
rise, but other shippings. Including Ameri
can international. Atlanilc tiulf and United
Fruit, were less susceptible to realizing.
Sugars. fertilizers, coppers and utilities
helped to swell the advance, but motors.

Last week's large actual loan expansion

further moderate gain.

there is little probability of the iormation
of a huge monev pool.
That the country is doing a very large
and profitable general business and that
money is reasonably free for constructive
purposes is evidenced by the enormous bank
clearings and the comparatively easy rates
for time and call fund.
COAST AND EASTERN" DAIRY PRODUCE
Batter Market Conditions at Leading Dis
tributing: Points.
San Francisco prices on butter declined
2 cents on hlKh scores, which left the mar
ket lu an unsettled condition. Lcwcr prices
today seem to be due partly to sympathetic
action of decline in eastern markets but
some dealers also report a falling off locally
in consumption. A greater ran-e In prices
of sales mi.de today Is noted. Receipts
thus far this week are 3f,.0O0 pounds lighter
than for the first five days of-'the previous
week. 93 score, 56 U c.
Chi'-aso The reported drop In prices op
the New York market caused some uncer
tainty here but the market remained firm
with prices unchanged on the higher score
and advanced on ali other grades. Dealers
report a great scarcity of butler and fresh
stocks were reduced 3314 tvibs. Cars of
centralized scoring 90 points sold at 5 7 1 - c
whllc some dealers relusd offers of .37c.
The out-of-storsge movement was heav,
amounting to 201,719 pounds. 92 score. 5.
New York A small volume of trading
took place today with a weak sentim-nl due
In a large measure to a partial etllemnl
of the marine workers strtke. Deliveries
were quite light today but many of th.
dealers had heavy arrival noti'--es of butler
ready lor delivery. In consequence prices
declined 2 cents on nearly all scores. Yes
terday's receipts were ItEht, amounting to
5299 tubs. Storage holdings were reduced
3420 tubs while street stocks have de
creased 3420 tubs. 92 score, 5Sc.
