Gantenbein to the Circuit bench in this
district. Judge Gantenbein has occu
pied this position for 11 years and has
given eminent satisfaction.
"At all times he has presided with
dignity and exceptional ability. He has
been uniformly courteous to the pro
fession, and his decisioi s have been
recognized as sound law and univer
sally Just.
"He has been one of the most patri
otic men in Multnomah County, and has
taken active interest In all military
affairs for the past 30 years. His oldest
son now is serving as a private in the
United States Army.

presented to the- university Student
Army Training Corps unit by the Salem
chapter. Daughters of the American
Revolution. Mrs. J. F. Helsler. regent
of the local order and a former Willam
ette student, gave the presntation
speech. Captain Tyler received the
flag in behalf of his command.
President Doney spoke in an ap
pealing manner regarding the signifi
cance of the colors, and "America,
sung by the company, completed the
ejercises.

favorable today and Secretary Baker
indicated his belief that the Army med
ical authorities have the situation in

enza reported from Army camps today
