Elaborate Billiard Parlors Open
The Rialto Billiard Parlors, one of the most modern and beautiful recreation rooms in the Northwest,
were opened last week at Park and Alder streets under the management of H. D. Green. The parlors are on
the second floor, with the entrance and stairway on Alder street..
The furnishings of the great table and lunch room are complete and elaborate. Nothing has been
spared in equipping the parlors to make them the finest possible, and that efforts to this end have not
been unavailing is shown in the popularity they already have obtained.
Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. Playing Equipment
For billiards thera are 12 standard tables, arranged In four
rowa of thre each on the east side of the room. Twelve tables
for pocket . billiards are located on the west side and to the
front, while there are four extra large pocket billiard tables
for open games in the front and on the east. These tables all
were furnished bv the Brunswicke-Balke-Collender Co. of 4fi
Fifth street, and are of the latest design, with all conveniences
for lovers of the game, such as return ball alleys for the pocket
billiard tables and leather-padded wicker baskets for coats and
hats.
Lighting System Furnished by J. C. English Co.
The parlors are well lighted In daytime from the windows
all along one side and the front. But augmenting the daylight
and furnishing Illumination at night is an Indirect lighting sys
tem. Installed by the J. C. English Company of 148 Fifth street.
Over each of the two dozen standard sized tables are three
table lights of art glass, and the large tables are lighten by
five of these.
Williamsen & Blied Accomplish Woodwork Effects
The woodwork and bar, where soft drinks and lunches are
served, are of Circassian walnut, the work having been done by
Williamsen & Blied, of 93 Eleventh street. On two sides of the
room the paneling Is six feet high, and in the rear on the east
have been placed three Pullman dining booths of the same finish.
Cork Floor By Cork Floor Products Co.
The floors are covered by the latest cork products material,
laid by C. A. Wolfgang, of the Cork Floor Products Company,
203 Broadway. This floor covering combines with its noieeiexs
qualities the artistic touch necessary to make it harmonize
with the decorations of the room and its furnishings.
Heating System Installed by Kraft Heating Co.
The Kraft Heating Company, 389 Eugene street. Installed the
heating plant for the Rialto, the equipment consisting of a
boiler and steam radiators so arranged and regulated as to
Insure an even, comfortable temperature at all times. The
radiators are decorated and covered so that Instead of detract
ing from the appearance of the parlors, they add to It.
Oregon Lumber Furnished by Portland Lumber Co.
The lumber used In preparing the Rialto was from Oregon
timber and was furnished by the Portland Lumber Company,
foot of Lincoln street. The decorative material, chosen with
view to grain and finish, has been beautifully prepared for its
purpose, and to it is due a great deal of the attractiveness of
the place. The lumber for the rougher work, concealed by the
finish of the parlors, was from the yards of the Portland com
pany, as well.
Smith-McCoy Put in Intricate Wiring System
Wiring for the parlors was Installed by the Smith-McCoy
Electrical Company, 671 Washington street, contractors for
this work. The wiring was done with a view to convenience,
a switchboard governing the lights being Installed in the rear
of the room, where it is controlled by an attendant.
Sanitary Plumbing Fixtures by Fox & Co.
Fox & Co., of 271 Fifth street. Installed the plumbing system
for the billiard parlors, and put in the gas supply plant, as
well. Both are the latest In design. A vacuum system for
cleaning is another Fox feature, and a fire extingnlealng sys
tem that makes the place practically Immune from fire damage.

Elaborate Decoration Scheme by Charles Amman
The ceiling and wall decorations are the work of Charles
Amman of 281 Third street, who designed and executed the
plans. The tints selected give a tone of richness to the room
and blend beautifully with the furnishings, making a color
scheme that Is entirely harmonious and splendidly attractive.
Paper In the latest patterns and colors has been hung in a
manner artistic and practical in the diffusing of the light re
flected from tbe fixtures hanging from the celling.
Signs by Portland Sign Co.
The elaborate and artistic signs on the windows were de-"
signed and executed by the Portland Sign Co. of 289 Stark street.
W. P. Fuller & Co. Furnish Plate and Art Glass
In the decorating and finishing, the woodwork, paints oils
and stains furnished by W. P. Fuller fe Co.. Front and Morri
son, were used, with the result that colors applied ere most
harmonious. Windows and doors for the Rialto were furnished
by the Fuller Company as well.
All Weinhard Soft Drinks on Draft at Rialto Buffet
At the bar, which extends nearly the full length of the rear
of the room, are served soft drinks and lunches. A full line of
all the popular ices and light drinks are on hand at all times,
including Weinhard'e Delicious Luxo and other Weinhard
Products, and from 11:30 A. M. until 2 o'clock P. M., lunch is
served, a menu meeting the needs of business men having been
prepared. Comfortable stools with easy backs face the bar;
snd for those who desire mors privacy the booths offer a splen
did place for eating.
Meats by Boston Packing Co.
Meats are furnished by the Boston Packing Company. Fresh
meats of all kinds, as well as the famous Willamette brand ot
cured meats, are served to patrons of the Rialto.
Coffee a Specialty Martin Marks Product Used
Another testimonial of the excellence of the Rialto cuisine
Is that the Monte Crlsto coffee, roasted and packed by the
Martin Marks Coffee Company, 2j2 Third street, is served with
lunches there.
Famous Lang Smokeless Range Does All Cooking
A feature of the service of the Rialto lunch la the smokeless
stove used In preparing food. This Is one of the hot-blast,
smoke-burning tandem oven ranges made by the F. S. Lang
Manufacturing Company. 191 Fourth street. This range, well
known because of its freedom from emoke annovance, is as
well a stove that cooks and bakes perfectly. The one installed
at the Rialto is large in elze and commensurate with thw
demands that early patronage indicate will be made upon it. It .
was only after careful Investigation of the relative merits of
restaurant ranges that the Lang was chosen for use by this
modern resort for gentlemen.
Famous Hazelwood Ice Cream Served
The delicious Hazelwood Ice Cream Is served at the Rlalto's
up-to-the-minute fountain. This popular ice cream was se
lected on account of its purity, richness and delicious flavors.
Even the epicure will find it a delight.
Beautiful Soda Fountain Installed
Gray. McLean & Percy, of Fourth and Hoyt streets, furnished
the soda fountain and all fountain supplies. They are dis
tributors for the Red Cross Iceless Fountains and all kinds
of fountain supplies, such as soft drinks, syrups, etc
Steam Table, Etc., by Oregon Sheet Metal Works
The sinks, steam table, canopy and cup and plate heater
were manufactured by the Oregon Sheet Metal Works of 144
Front street.
Leading Brands of Cigars Chosen
The El Rot Tan. New Bachelor. La Natlvidad, Vellnda. Felfer"s
Union. Rosadora, Little Tan and Minerva cigars were furnished
by the Rosenf eld-Smith Co, who are distributors for the above
famous brands of well-known cigars.
Sidewalk Elevator by E. Hippely
Ths sidewalk elevator was manufactured and installed by
E. Hippely. of 224 Oak street.
N. A. Schaner Supplies Marble
The beautiful marble In the grand staircase and the store
fronts was supplied and Installed by N. A. Schaner Marble
Works of 287 Hawthorne avenue.
Dumb-Waiter by Sturm Elevator Co.
The Sturm Dumb-Waiter fc Elevator Co. of 289 Union avenue
manufactured and installed the dumb-waiter used In the Rialto
Billiard Parlors.
