Eight Sacks of Mall From Ger
man Embassy Put Aboard.
NEW LOXDOK, Conn, Nov. 11. No
clearance papers had been issued to
Captain Paul Koenig, of the German
commercial submarine Deutschland. to
night and none will be issued tomor
row, according? to Joseph C. Corn
stock, deputy collector of Customs
ere. Memoers of the vessel's crew in
the city, on shore leave, said also that
their vessel would not leave port to
night or Sunday.
Two men were at 'work on the ves
sel's engines today, and the delay in
sailing is believed to be due to the
fact that the machinery has not yet
been finally overhauled. However, t e
Deutschland, it was learned, has al
ready submerged four times, and to
day was again put through a full test
by Captain Koenig, who has not left
his vessel since Thursday night.
Eight mail sacks containing, accord
ing to Vice-President Paul ti. Hilken,
of the Eastern Forwarding Company,
mail from the German Embassy, ar
rived from Washington tonight. In
charge of two members of the Embassy
Btaff and were conveyed to the
Engeno Has Chill Weather.
