the nomination of Senator Borah for
Vice-President would meet with favor
from Oregon Republicans generally.
George H. Burnett and Frank H.
Moores, Justices of the Supreme Court,
were nominated by the Republicans to
succeed themselves. They also will,
doubtless, receive the Democratic nom

V. Littlefield, defeated candidate
for the Republican nomination for- Re
resentative in Congress:
Portland. Or.. May 20. (To the
Editor.) I note your suggestion In
this morning's paper to the effect that
defeated candidates should have a big
consolation banquet and swear alle
giance. As far as I am concerned this meet
ing will not be necessary, for I am a
firm believer in honesty In politics as
well as in anything else, and when one
enters into a primary campaign he Is
morally bound to support the actions
of his party.
The Republican voters have expressed
their choice and in order that there may
be no misunderstanding I wish to state
that I am going to support the Re
publican nominee, and at the November
election will vote for Clifton N. Me
