TAfHILE the Spring Styles Exhibit is broad in its scope and covers practically) everything from candy to motorcars,
' V women's apparel is naturally the most striding feature of the display and the feature most extensively developed in
the exhibits shotvn in the TvindoTvs of the various stores of the city.
While some men may be guilty of the habit of sending to other centers in purchasing their apparel, and rvhile some
' tmolhers may outfit their families from stores of Eastern cities, the chiefest offender of all is Milady of Fashion, on
whom so easily becomes fastened the illusion that the best and the latest in styles cannot be secured except from dealers
outside her own city. , ,
The Retail Merchants' Bureau of the Chamber of Commerce, which is heading the Styles Exhibit movement, has
persuaded the merchants of the city to co-operate in putting on this exhibit for just the purpose of convincing Milady,
by ocular demonstration, that, if she holds that opinion and has been in the habit of sending away to purchase her
apparel, she has been sadly mistaken.
Hence the exhibits of women's apparel in the windows of Portland stores for the next four days will present the
most varied and up-to-date goods in this line that have ever been offered in Portland.
