insurance company in a small town, is arrested on a charge ol
murdering Charles Ryder, a cashier. Afterwards the night
watchman is arrested for fighting and, deprived of the dope
he is addicted to, he confesses himself guilty of the crime. 1 hen
Carter finds that the president of the company will not reinstate

Good Financial Showing.
CENTRALIA. Wash, Feb. 12. (Spe
cial.) The management of every city
department is commended in the report
received by the City Commission yes
terday from the State Bureau of Ac
countancy, following the recent check
ing of the city's records by W. S.
Shank and E. E. Tennant, two state
examiners. The check covered a period
from May 1. 1914, to December 31,
1915.
The report shows that the water and
lights plants last year showed net
profits, respectively, of $7130.23 and

are censured for allowing about 1100,000
to bo lost In two local DanKs, not dciub
