Dec. 4. (Special.) Milwaukie Is now receiving: bidn for tho construction of the distribution sys tem of the municipal water plant, ac cording to the plans and specifications which have been completed by City Engineer J. W. Morris, which are in his office in the Morgan building- in Port land. Bids will close December 14. The plans include water mains ranging- from four to eight inches in size, and cover the entire town system. They include the erection.'of a stand pipe in Minthorne. the eastern and high est portion of the town. The engineer estimates are $24,0(10 for the system, but it is thought that the bids will raniie much lower than these figures. In the Wenatchee north country there are now 1000 trees planted, part of which are In bearing. 1. A. Henderson and W. F. Shepherd, of Chelan, have th largest bearing groves. They ara growing them on a commercial basis, having 30 acres of trees, varying from 3 to 14 years old. H. U. Simmons. George Farwell. V. ill lam Turner and A. If.
