regarded as desperate, nor even very

Asacta Exceed Liabilities.
The last published statement of the
company showed, assets of 12.676,296.25
with liabilities of S1.279.H7.29. The
bonded Indebtedness amounts to $90t,
7U0 and is made up of four separate
issues. The amount of bonds remain
ing unpaid under bond Issue No. 1 is
120 000: bond Issue No. 2, $41,000; bond
issii No. 3. $172,000. These three Issues
are all secured by first mortgages on
separate tracts of land.

from the irrigation company, a 'sepa

Two Reason Clven.
Two reasons are given for the em
barrassment of the company. The first
Is because of default in payments of
a large amount of contracts for lands
sold. At one time the company had
on its books land contracts in excess
of $1,000,000. During the past four
years, owing to financial conditions,
contracts to the amount of over $600,000
have been cancelled. Lack of deman4
for orchard lands is ascribed as a sec
ond cause.
The project is located at Lewiston.
Idaho, and comprises about 8000 acres
of land, of which 5500 acres have been
subdivided into 40-acre blocks, sur
rounded by streets, each block being
subdivided into five-acre tracts, prac
tically all of the platted land con-

SPOKANE. Wash., Nov. 20. The
Yakima district won first prize today
at the eighth annual apple show, in
progress here, the winning exhibit
comprising lOu boxes of winesaps.
Spokane Valley district growers won
second prize on Winter bananas. The
Wenatchee district came within a frac
tion of a point in the race for second
place.
In the apple-judging contest between
teams of college studenUs Washington
State College, defeated the University
of Idaho nnd won the silver trophy.
