O I I gon National Guard, one of the best-known military organiza tions of the city, will fraternize in the 32d annual reunion on November J 9. The members of the comoany will gather at the rathskeller of the Ger man House and the old days will be revived "and half-forgotten tales re called at the Informal bohemian dinner that will be served. Probably 70 veterans of the popular company ' will be gathered at the re .irion. The spirit of the old days and of comradeship drawn tighter by the passing years will rule. Robert E. Liavis. who succeeded Louis Clinton Farrar is captain of old Company G in 1895, will act as toastmaster. There will be no set speeches but probably all present will take some part in the evening's entertainment. Company G was organized and en tered the service of the Oregon State Militia on November 15. 1883. It maintained a distinct indivduality, do ing its part in preserving the good order of the Mate and even n those days taking a stand for National pre paredness. Its members were well drilled, and the company is recalled as having been a model volunteer mili tary organization. True to- its mission. Company G stepped to the front when the Spanish War broke out. In 1898 the organiza tion, a' capable " fighting unit, vts merged into the Second Oregon Regi ment and shared in the brlliant work of that . organization in the Philio nlnes. Tlie original members of Company G are scattered to many parts of the world. Many have diesj, but there are still a large number in and about Portland who cherish memories ofhe old days and who count the annual re union as one of the brightest days on the calendar. Members of the compnnv were not, presumably, madt into brutal persons by their early military training. They stand high in the. professional and business ranks of the state. ' Some have kept track of their for mer comrades and are able to recall the activities of each member of the company. The roster of the company is given- here and what the mombe-s later undertook in a business way is recalled by one who was prominent in Company G. J. W. Newklrk Former cashier of the First National Bank, a position ho held for many years. He has now re tired from active business. D- L. Williams One of Portland's well-known architects. He has helped design many of the city's best struc tures. A. L. Upson He is connected with the United States Engineers here. Mr. Upson has :.n orchard at Hood Rver to which, he gives considerable attention. A. Wagner Has been a practicing attorney in Portland for many rears, a profession he is still following. -Dr. C. C. Newcastle Is a Portland dentst, well known in the profession and with a wide acauaintance throughout the city. H. W. Hogue For many years an attorney of this city, and formerly was Police Judge. S A. Hering He has been promi nent in the transportation business for years. Is now superintendent of car service for the O.-W. R. & co L. C. Jones After being in business here for a cumber of vears. he left the city for Denver, where he is en gaged In insurance dealing. W. E. Potter Was in the real es tate business in Portland formerly and was a Deputy Sheriff under Tom word. . . R; B. Davis Was an office man and bookkeeper. He is in the auditing de- i"?6,? A. L. Warner. Formerly with the paymaster's department of the old Ore gon Railroad & Navigation Company. He is now holding a position with the Seattle city government. W. E. Mulhollan. After practicing Ills profession of dentist in this city for some time, he is now located in Juneau, Alaska, where he is a well known dentist. L. W. Moody. A former druggist here. He has now retired and spends much of his time in travel. t" H. Clarke. He is now In New ork City, where he Is a salesman for a firm of wine importers. W. T. Muir. For many years was one of the well-known attorneys of Portland. .He died two years ago Dr. B. K. Miller. A well-known phy sician of Portland, where he has long practiced. He is one of the prominent homeopathic physicians of the country C. M. ldieman. He has been an at torney here for years and has a wide acquaintance. L. G. Farrar. Was Captain of Com pany G from 1S82 to l9o. He died in the latter year. A. J. Coffee. A former Portlander. He is now the representative of a fire alarm manufacturer and travels all over the world in promoting t... sale of the appliance. His headquarters are in San Francisco. Richard Martin, Jr. Is one of Port land's architects, a profession he hat, followed for a long time. He has planned many of Portland's leading structures. M. S. Jamieson. He was an officer ,ln the Second Oregon Regiment in the Philippines. He has since died. H. Glahn. A mechanio when he was a member of Company G. He has moved from Portl. nd. G W. Freeman. A civil engineer by profess.on. He is now in the East. He was engineer In the lighthouse service of the Government when last heard of by Portland friends. Will A. Lee Is with the First Na tional bank of Portland, being custo dian of the Security Sa:e Deposit Com pany. R. F. Prael A member of the Prael Hegele Company, formerly with the Security Savings & Trust Company and was once paymaster of the old O. R. & N. Co. J. C. Harris Was well known In Portland for a long time but of late years has lived in Seattle, where he is connected with the Alaska Steamship Company. ," E. Kemera Was with the Ladd & Tllton Bank for a number of veaYs. but removed from the city and trace or nlm has been lost. C. C. Smith. Is in the real estate business in Portland, a business he has followed for some years, C. Mendenhall. Formerly Portland accountant He ha removed from this city to California. George II. Hinners. Was formerly a physician here. He died in 1914. A. J. Stevens: Now dead. He was formerly with the First National Bank of this city. G. T. Wiliett. He was with the pas senger department of the Western Pa cific Railway for more than 30 years He is now retired and spends much of hlstlme in travel. R. K. Lee Is prominent in the Apollo Club.
