EVENTS OF THE WEEK.
Mrs. Maude Burnette, who has re
cently returned from an extended trip
throughout California, entertained at
a delightfully appointed house party on
Thursday night, at her residence in
Irvington Park, music and cards being
features of the evening.
Decorations for the occasion con
sisted of artistic arrangements of cut
flowers and foliage, the luncheon table
being adorned with a pretty electrical
flower shower and fernery. Mise Helen
Wigmann and Harley Morton, both
well known In musical circles, con
tributed much to the enjoyment of the
evening with various piano and 'celo
selections. Miss Edythe Ogden, solo
ist, also favored with appropriate songs
throughout the evening. A dainty sup
per was served.
High scores fell to Miss Lydia Dam
meter and L. E. Williams.
Those enjoying the hospitality of the
charming hostess were:

An enjoyable affair of Tuesday was
the surprise tendered Mrs. C. G. Henry
I at her home on Clackamas street. Mrs.
Henry leaves with her husband in a
few days for Buffalo, N. Y., where she
will make her home. She has made
many friends while residing -in this
city, in social and fraternal circles.
and she will be greatly missed. To
show their appreciation the members
of Portland Hive. No. 7. Ladies of the
Maccabees, of which she was an active
member, came with well-.lled bas
kets to spend the day. At 1 o'clock all
sat down to an elaborate repast. The
afternoon was passed in playing "BOO,"
high score falling to Mrs. R, H. Rueil.

on East Market street for the pleasure
of Mrs. J. H. Weiss, of The Dalles, who
is visiting here. Five tables of cards
were arranged, the honors falling to
Mrs. Perry Graves, Mrs. Frank Mc
Carthy, Mrs. Lloyd Boster and Mrs.
Charles Thompson, after which a deli
cious repast was served. Huge bowls
of hydrangeas and festoons of trailing
vines throughout the rooms made a
pretty background for the dainty
gowns of the following, who were

It may safely be said that no school in America has
better facilities for the training of young: men and
women for successful professional careers.
The Annual Session begins October 1.
Students taking: regular degree course are re
quired to enter at the beginning; of the session.
Requirements for admission:
To the course in Dentistry, high school graduation
or jts equivalent, fifteen units.
To the course in Pharmacy, two years of high school
or its equivalent, eight units.
In Pharmacy two courses are offered:
One of two years leading to the degree of Graduate
in Pharmacy (Ph. G.)
One of three years leading to the degree of Pharma
ceutical Chemist (Ph. C.)
Beginning with October 1, 1917, the course in Den
tistry will be extended from three years, as at present,
to four years.
