The Beavers today trimmed Lob An- Vgeles 10 to 5 in another heavy-hitting 0ame, which was more or less a loke. Every one of the Portland team except 'lsher took turns fattening up their uniting average, collecting in all 16 bingles off of Tozer, who was der ricked in the eighth, Gregory taking .nis , piace. The Seraphs found Hager man for 12 hits, but as a whole "Rip" managed to keep them fairly well scat tered. IJortland started the ball rolling with on e run in the initial frame. Francisco today 6 - to' 0, from the bay cities turned out in large numbers to swell the receipts of the benefit of the Portola festival which opens here next week. ' Prior to the -opening of the game the players of both teams were given an opportunity to show. their skill in exhibition contests. Johnston' of San Francisco won the 75-yard dash' and incidentally the sliver mounted . ball that was bid In by Cal Ewicg for be ing the mo3t popular player of the two teams. Corhan of San Francisco won the long distance throw, hurling the horsehide 380 feet; Johnston i cap tured the base circuiting, prize, mak ing the distance in 14 2-6 seconds; ac curate throwing won by Clarke, San Francisco; bunt and run won by Mun dorff, reaching first in 3 2-5.
