THE Pendleton Ronnd-Up is at hand. The term
"ronnd-up". conies from the Texas Panhandle.
Throughout the Middle "West it is, or was, tha
phrase descriptive of the semi-annual gathering to
gether of the cattle. Up from Mexico, through the
Southwest and California, came the Spanish term,
"rodeo," meaning the same thing. The terms met
in Oregon, and in the southern part of the state
"rodeo" was victorious. But "round-up" triumphed
in that vast region indefinitely known as Eastern
Oregon.
The Pendleton Round-Up is the memorial perpet
