VISITORS are invited to in spect this new establishment the Show Store of the Pacific Coast. . J PG postscript Miss Rose Coghlan, who frankly oh. much too frankly admits that she is one of the veterans of "the profession," came into the store "Wednesday. Miss Coghlan shares with Lil lian Russell a truly admirable candor regarding her age, and a perfectly amazing faculty of not showing it. We have decided that one of the tricks of stage ladies is to amuse themselves by taxing the credulity of their in terviewers in this matter. To talk with Miss Coghlan the viva cious, the irrepressibles is to dis believe her assertion that she has been on the stage 54 years. "Well, then," we assure our selves, "they must have carried her on when she was a baby." We mentioned the store and our desire to have her opinion of it. "It is very beautiful," she said in her deep, full-throated voice. "I didn't expect to find such a beautiful place out here. But Portland has grown wonderfully. Indeed, I shouldn't have recog nized it if it hadn't been for Mount Hood." "At least," we hazarded, "it's true that 'FINE FEATHERS make fine stores." "Indeed, yes," smiled Miss Coghlan, with a wave of her hand. "And I have been buying my Summer plumage here, you see. Yes, it is gratifying to be able to refurbish one's wardrobe so easily and so well. And just exactly as nice as the things one finds in the Fifth-Avenue shops." She drifted over to the even ing gown salon. "Oh, watch me," she cried out in gay warn ing, as she patted the shining folds of a soft brocade. "I feel that I am going to steal some thing." She picked out two of the evening things, and added them to her collection, -hich com prised seven "good - looking" gowns. "I'm very well satisfied with my purchases," she told us. "I was afraid that Summer would overtake me in a howling wilder ness, and that I should have to send to New York for something cool to wear. But you see I have found everything I need in your store." Miss Coghlan visited the store twice, the second time with Miss Summers, who saw a number of things she "wanted." "A de lightful place," they informed us. "There isn't another store outside of New York to compare with it." And we felt that this from women who know their Fifth Avenue, was highest praise.
