Seven great states of the American
Northwest Oregon. Washington, Idaho,
Montana. North Dakota. South Dakota,
and Minnesota will hold an exposition
at Minneapolis November 12 to 23, 1912,
to show the products of the states and
exploit the possibilities of the vast
territory represented by the Northwest
ern Development League.
This exposition of the land, or, more
popularly called, "land show," will ba
an exhibition of the products of tha
soil, forests, mines, lakes, rivers and
factories of the seven Northwestern
states, and Alaska, for that great dis
trict wishes to share with th North
western states in the work of the de-el-opment
league, the largest commercial
organization in the world.
"A real land products show is liv
geography in captivity. It is geogra
phy visualized and vitalized," writes
Forrest Crissey, contributor to the Sat
urday Evening Post in his description
of "What the Modern Land Products
Show Means."
This is just exactly what the officers
of the Northwestern Development
League plan the products exposition at
Minneapolis this year shall be. To be
certain that the exposition is free from
objectionable concessions, that "spiel
ers" with something to sell, and un
reliable land agents, are barred, the
officers of the league will have personal
supervision of the exposition.
States to Have Authority.
Therefore, the Northwestern Prod
ucts exposition will be under the au
thority of the states, and conducted by
the Northwestern Development League,
a federation of more than 1700 com
mercial organlzaUons in the territory
represented. . ..
Believing that states often have been
misrepresented by "fake exhibits," the
development league is conducting its
own exposition. The first was held m
St Paul last December and met with
the approval of the governors and of
ficial representatives of the Northwest
ern states, on the return of the West
ern Governors' Special to St. Paul.

In speaking of land shows and the
results of this class of advertising, J.

Northern Pacific Railways, says:
"We have always realized good re

products expositions, and we expect to
get our money's worth many times over
by exhibiting at the Northwestern
Products Exposition at Minneapolis.
