L One day Jim Jump-Up's wife observed: "Dear Jim, I tell you what!
To clinch our social standing: now we ought to buy a yacht.
All millionnaires have steam affairs, so we shall have one, too!"
And Jim? well, Jim agreed at once. He'd nothing else to do!
2. A few days passed; then Genevieve said: "Jim, I wish you'd call
And have your yachting outfit made coat, cap, white ducks and all.
I've bought the yacht, and in a week, unless they should refuse.
We're going to take our swaggvrest friends upon a little cruise."

4. The cruising day dawned bright and clear, and Genevieve was gay
The yachting crowd was there in force not one Mad stayed away:
And Genevieve just burbled on. JOh, yes, indeed," said she;
"Botn I and Mr. Jump-Up fairly dote upon the sea!
5.' Rough weather? Why, we love it!" she exclaimed when,by and by
The yacht began to roll because tne waves were pucmug uigu, ,
But bit. by bit she silent grew, for Uh, to ner distress,
She felt a sinking feeling and a vague unhappiness!
3. Jim did as he was ordered, and each evening for a week
They both read up on yachting till the "lingo" thecouldspeak, r
3 And when Jim learned to say "Avast," "Lay to"-and4tStarboacd side," ,
She made him join the Yacht Club and assume a rolling strict
6.--She battled with it boldly, and she thought: 'T won't tell Jim!"
But finally she went below, and there fell over him!
"Oh, stop the ship!" moaned hapless Jim. 'Whatever shall I do?"
"We're both disgraced!" sobbed Genevieve, 'I'm Just as ill as you!"
7. For hours they heard their thoughtless guests enjoying life on deck.
"I wish the blamed old yacht would sink!" cried Jim, "and be a wreck!"
"The heartless things!" moaned Genevieve, "A lot for us they care!
Dear Jim, I'm Oh, so sorry that I thought up this affair!"
8. At last the yacht steamed home again. The heartless guests departed.
The Jump-Ups taxied home alone, downcast and broken-hearted.
'Oh, Gen!" begged Jim, "I ask you, won't you quit this social game?"
"Not I!" she cried. tThough laughed at now. Til show 'em just the same.
