the above Is a reproduction, was taken while Mr. Stevens and his son
Eugene were climbing Mont Blanc In Swltxerland. The attempt was
made on July SI. and In writing of his visit to the old eountry he

The fact that seven newlywed couples
are stopping at the Springs has caused
rioters to dub the place "Honeymoon
Lodge." The employes of the North
Bank road have been busy the past
week cleaning out the cars of that road
which were filled with rice. old. shoes
and various other articles of post-nuptial
celebrations.
For the past week excitement among
the campers has been Intense, caused
by the presence Thursday night of a
small black bear which was lured from
the mountains by the odors of fried
chicken and honey. Several women
campers Immediately engaged rooms at
the hotel and others sent telegrams to
their menfolk In Portland to come at
once and protect them from the savage
