Tha early Neo-Galllc car did no mora than ralaa ma to a noblar plana or thought. I have heard men of tha new generation late-comera to a game aaade easy usa language over a faulty apark or a stuck valve that would al most disgrace the childish golfer. My mouth waa emptied of these vanitiea long ago. I can spend three houra In dark and Cold with a leaky tuba that needs attention every 2i0 yarde and virgin may listen to ray every word: bat of the moral aspect of things here after. To ma It la a land of stupe fying marvela and mysteries: and a lay In a car In an English country la a day In soma fairy museum where all tha eahlblts ara alive and real and yet none tha lesa delightfully mixed up with books. For Instance. In six hours I can go from the land of tha Ingoldsby Legends by way of tha Nor man Conquest and Barons' War Into Richard Jefferles country, and so through tha Regency, ona of Arthur Young leea known tours, and Cella's Arbour, Into Gilbert White's territory. Have you ever noticed how tha motor la tha moat efficient temperance advo cate and tha only education act at preeeat enforced In Oreat Britain? "Seven years ago accuracy, precision, restraint, the Idea of projecting ones Imagination 100 yards ahead of one'a nose down an empty lane, did not exist. It Is the car that we have to thank for the quickened Intellect, the alerter eye. the mora agile limbs and the less unquenchable thirst of our fellow-cltl-sena. aa well as for the higher standard of decency now attained by our of ficially dumb companions.
