It is generally conceded by vis itors who have seen all the great fairs within the pn.t 20 years, that the A-Y-P excels any of them in scenic attractive ness, except possibly the Kewls and 'lark Fair. Us compactness and the wise with which the circuit of the various hullrilngA may be made elicit favorable comment from all hands. Risrht now. the landscape effects are. coming into full beauty with their wealth of flowers and verdure. A a the season advances the floral gardeners' work will become more marked and the visitor will fel that he is in a magnificent park. With the advance of colored photography and its application to ordinary subjects, nil of the si-ones will no doubt he perma nently preserved in all the wealth of ar tistic hue. One of the most charming features of the Seattle Fair Is the opportunity the grounds afford for fresh air and rest. Sightseeing, at best, is physically ex haustive. One hour on one's feet creates an Insistent demand for a comfortable rt out of doors. Ample provision has bfrn made in this regard wherever you may move. As Summer advances the cool hreeaes from the splendid lakes sur rounding the exposition will furnish no small pleasure and comfort to visitors, particularly those from Kastem states, who are unaccustomed to weather condi tions of Pi i get Bound, where the after noons Hnd evenings In July and August neer include ph;Lss conducive to palu or OlFtrcKs. From now on till its close, the exposition will be one vast, fascinat ing plea sin e park. It will be an opon air rirawlng-rnom, where one will meet one s friends from any quarter of state or Nation, or the nations of the earth for this is a cosmopolitan gathering of peoples. isitors as moll as exhibitors. One feature that was emphasized at " t 'hicH go, Hu ff a lo, S t . 1 ..outs and Portland w ill bo missed here, .namely the dazzling whiteness of the structures. The pre- ailing color is delicate, ioft, rich cream. Visitors never fail to comment on this emphatic Improvement. It ts in perfect harmon with the green of sward and tree, with the framing of the azure of th hkies. The pictures here shown furnish at a. glance a comprehensive idea of the gen erl arrangement of the more notable buildings and the effectiveness of various groups, as well as the characteristics of the buildings separately. Magnificent is the onlv word to apply to the effect of the buildings that surround- the Court uf Honor. You may think of and remem ber distinctly the finest scenes at other fair but memory cannot recall one at all comparable with this choice spot on the shoie of lake Washington. What ever divergent opinions may be held as to the comparative value and at tract iv ness of indoor exhibits, there can be but one opinion on the architectural and scenic beaut y bore presented. Nor does daylight furnish the roost ef fective scene. To see the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Kxposltion at its best, one must isll the grounds these perfect nights, when countless electric lights add a bril liancy to buildings. The color effect is a harmonious blending of art and me chanical skill. - i'ourtesy is a marked characteristic of this exposition. From the lord of the walk, who paces the paths with a "billy" swinging at his wrist, both ways in the conduct of the fair ther is the same even treatment of high and low. It is "no ; bles.se oblige" without knowing iu III-.. . -i . 1 1 & ':::--s I - . $V!2Z3 J- - v: - 3 S ScJI I ti 1 i 11 ciM.-- "' . T ' - -----J ' V s ,t -rLH, fs 1l u;i,jifv' - ' " : r . ill -(!
