Craft Will Form at Clubhouse at 2 P. M., and Pmoord Down River to Burnslde-Street Bridge and Return. Motor boats of "every description, little and big. long and short, fast and slow, will be In evidence on the waterfront this afternoon to witness the first race of the season. Two hundred boats are I expected to be on the river, and at least j ISO of these, and perhaps all. w!!! take I part In the grand parade that precedes the races. Headed by Commodore Kelly In the flagship of the fiet. with pennants . strung from bow to stern, the parade will start from the Willamette Motor boat Club house at I o'clock, followed by the officers next In rank, and the other participants. At a meeting of the club Friday night at which plans for the races were made, each officer was presented with a naval ensign denoting his rank. These ensigns will fly . from the masts of the boats in the parade. Leaving the club house the parade wilt proceed around Bumslde brirja-e pier and return to the club house. The members of the club In the parade will be accom panied by their friends, to whom a gen eral Invitation lias been extended for a social ride. With such a large number of boat taking part the parade will be spectacular. The parade over, the races will el Art promptly at 3. o'clock. More than 60 boats have entered and three classes of races will be run according to length. The races will be from the club house at the foot of Rllsworth street snd will follow a triangular course around Madi son bridge. Spectators will be able to see the progress of the races from Starr to finish from the bridges. A number of valuable prizes have been offered, the most sought after being the commo dore's cup which has been offered by Commodore Kelly. The committee in charge of the races Is A. J. Fleming. George Klnnear, T.. M. Myers. D. M. Mecklem and IV. W". V. Spencer. Ir. F. rammasch. will be starter and L. M. Myers chief timekeeper. The Judges will be appointed Immediately preced ing the races. Tryouts tor determining; time will be held this morntna. At the meeting Friday night of the Willamette Motor- Boat Club an invita tion was issued to the members by John E. Wolff to Inspect tils ne'w boat which has made its appearance recently. The : Wolff II. as the boat has been christen ed, made a decided Impression on the visitors. With Its trim and speedy ap pearance it looks like a winner. It Is expected to do better than 30 miles an hour as It contains a six-cylinder en gine, developing 140 horsepower. This boat will represent the Willamette Mo tor Boat Club In the races In Seattle. Sunny Jim II. another speed boat, owned by James B. Welch, secretary and treasurer of the club, which was Intended to be entered In the races and of which much was expected, will not be completed In time. Regatta Chairman Fleming, who has had fu!t charge of the races, has been accomplishing wonders In getting out a large list of entries, considering that this Is the early part of the season, and the majority of the motor boats are not yet In good racing trim. The club extends a general Invitation to all motor boat owners to participate in the parade and to be at the clubhouse not later than 1:30- this afternoon. A number of boats are expected from As toria. Vancouver and Oregon City to take part in both the races and the parade. ' Following are the entries to date: Lecgt h.
