Cynthianna was out walking,
Accompanied by her nurse;
She wasn't one bit happy, but
Exactly the reverse.
To see the other children free
To roll and romp and skip.
Bred a fond desire to join them,
And she eave her nurse the slip.
A dozen ragged urchins,.
Formed in a group, apart.
Were watching Michael Dugin
With his goat hitched to a cart.
Cynthianna joined'the crowd,
And much to their dismay
She smiled upon them sweetly
And asked if she might play.
"Sure thing I'Vsaid little Michael.
"You bet it's me for you;
Git in and we'll go riden' r
Up en down de avenoo."
So Cynthianna climbed aboard.
And close to Mickey's side, ',
4? 'Mid jeers and exclamations
She started for a ride
They never knew" what scared the goat
But they hadn't gone a block
When this weird, fantastic turnout
Experienced a shock.
A sadly mussed up coupk
There in the gutter sat,
While the goat ate all the flowers
From poor Cynthianna's hat.
