Big Bill Opens Tomorrow at Washington-Street
Vaudeville House.
It Is to be a big vaudeville enter
tainment that comes to the Grand thta
week, opening with the matinee to.
morrow. The headllner will be Mile.
Joyce Grey, the "Salome" dancer from
the Albambra Theater Paris. This will
be the first real "Salome" dance that
has ibeen displayed in Portland, and
Mile. Grey will give her own Idea of
the dance, such as electrified Paris, th
capital of the world. '
For the special added attraction
Sullivan & Considine are sending Harry
Luken's seven trained bears, the great
est trained animal act of the kind be
fore the public today.
Douglas A. Flint and company will
present '"The Mixer," a sketch full of
ludicrous situations. Mr. Flint is well
known in Portland, having appeared
with Max Figman last season in "The
Man on the Box."
'A Rural Substitute" Is a pastoral
sketch, in which Joe R. Keller and
company appear. This Is a miniature
ay Down i.ast. A juggling oddity
is promised by the Pelots. in their act
called "Fun In a Hotel Office."
Among the world's most daring aero
bats and rlsley artists are the La Sella
trio. Joe Hardman, the happy mono
loglst. has been secured for the pro
gramme and will contribute parodies
and jokes. Fred Bauer will sing
new ballad and the Grandiscope will
flash new films.
This afternoon and tonight will be
the last performances of the. present
bill, headed by larl Herman, the king
of electricity. His act Is the most
comical and most educational that h
been seen in vaudeville in years.

added the fear of assassination for her
husband. If not herself, undermined her
constitution and today she is a nervous
wreck. She has been ordered to go on a
journey for her health, but as the Czar
cannot go with her, she will not go. She
was the daughter of the Grand Uuke of
Hfsse and her name in Germany was
Alexandria Allx: it became Alexandra
Keodorovna when she married the Czar.
It was directly after the Czar had as
cended the throne that he married the
beautiful German. She was then only 22
years ol.l. She Is now 36 and in spite of
the great strain undr which she has lived
its retains most of her beauty. - Four
daughters were born to her before her
son came. They are: The Grand Duch
ess Olga (born ISM), the Grand Duchess
Tatiana (1S97). the Grand Duchess Marie
(1S99) and the Grand Duchess Anastasia
(lsoi). The heir apparent was born three
years after his youngest sister. He was
christened Alexis, the name of his un
fortunate great-uncle, who died In Paris.

father and mother are much with them
