Mrs. Harder left on the evening train for
Twin Falls, Idaho, their future home.

bar Is a daughter of Judge R. O. Dunbar,
of the Supreme Court of Washington.
Miss Fannie Fern Peterson, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Peterson, left
last evening for an extended trip In
the East, visiting relatives in Denver,
Kansas City, Omaha and Quincy. She
is chaperoned by her aunt, Mrs. W. S.
DeWitt.
Dr. Frank Ortschlld, of Baltimore, who
has been convalescing from his serious
Illness at the home of his parents in
Portland, returned on Tuesday to Johns
Hopkins Hospital to resume his position
as one of the resident surgeons of that
Institution.
Miss Maude Steadman has returned
from a five weeks' visit In Spokane and
Chehalis, Wash. In Spokane she visited
Mrs. H. B. Lancaster, who was formerly
Miss Jennie Hanson, of this city. A
very pleasant week was spent In Che
halls as the guest of Miss Ethelln Coff
man. Mrs. Katherine Warde Pope, who
was Instructor of vocal music at the
University of Oregon last year, may

Newspaper Burned Out.
LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 3. The St.
Charles Hotel building was destroyed
and Senator James B. MeCrearys law
office and the Kentucky Register
newspaper office and five other build
ings were burned or damaged by Are at
Richmond, Ky., today, entailing a loss
of $50,000. The firemen were able to
make little headway because of lack
of water owing to severe drouth. The
cause of the fire Is unknown.
